Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions following his ninth inning ejection, which included returning to the field, during Monday night's game against the Detroit Tigers at Nationals Park. Joe Garagiola Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Harper's suspension had been scheduled to be served tonight, when the Nationals are to conclude their series against the Tigers. However, he has elected to file an appeal. Thus, the discipline issued to Harper will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
