Colorado Rockies reinstate infielder Daniel Descalso from 15-day disabled list

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated infielder Daniel Descalso from the 15-day disabled list (left hand fracture) and have optioned infielder Ben Paulsen to Triple-A Albuquerque.

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated infielder Daniel Descalso from the 15-day disabled list (left hand fracture) and have optioned infielder Ben Paulsen to Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Descalso, 29, was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 3 (retroactive to March 25) after suffering a fractured left hand in a Spring Training game vs. Cleveland on March 11 … played four games in his rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque, and went 6-for-15 (.400) with one run, one double, one RBI and three walks … in six Spring Training games with the Rockies this season, went 3-for-15 (.200) with two runs, one double and two RBI … in his first season with Colorado in 2015, batted .205 (38-for-185) with 22 runs, three doubles, two triples, five home runs, 22 RBI, 20 walks and one stolen base … originally drafted by St. Louis in the third round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, he played in parts of five seasons for the Cardinals prior to signing a two-year contract with the Rockies on Dec. 16, 2014 … in parts of six seasons with St. Louis (2010-2014) and Colorado (2015), has combined to bat .238 (335-for-1,408) with 167 runs, 71 doubles, 13 triples, 15 home runs, 133 RBI, 134 walks and 17 stolen bases. 
     
  • Paulsen, 28, made his first Opening Day roster in three seasons with Colorado … in 29 games for the Rockies this season, has batted .258 (17-for-66) with six runs, five doubles, one home run, 10 RBI and four walks ... originally drafted by the Rockies in the third round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, Paulsen has batted .280 (127-for-454) with 56 runs, 28 doubles, four triples, 16 home runs, 69 RBI and 29 walks in parts of three seasons for Colorado.
