Oakland, Calif. -- The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room on the active roster for Jackson, the team has optioned right-handed pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen to Round Rock.

Jackson, 24, has no record and a 3.68 ERA (6 ER/14.2 IP) over 13 relief appearances with Triple-A Round Rock this season. The right-hander opened the season on the Rangers' 15-day disabled list, but has yet to appear for the big league club after being optioned to Round Rock on April 13 following an injury rehab assignment with the Express. Since being optioned to Triple-A, Jackson has compiled a 2.25 ERA (3 ER/12.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts over 10 appearances, holding opponents to a .195 (8-41) average. He last appeared on Friday vs. Oklahoma City, tossing a season-high 2.1 scoreless innings (25 pitches). Jackson had no record and a 4.26 ERA (3 ER/6.1 IP) in 7 relief appearances for Texas last season, his only major league action.

Wilhelmsen has gone 2-2 with a 9.98 ERA (17 ER/15.1 IP) over 17 relief appearances for the Rangers this season.

After today's transactions, the Rangers major league roster is still at the 40-man limit.
