The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Noe Ramirez from Triple-A Pawtucket and added him as the 26th man on the club's active roster for today's day-night doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals. Under Major League Baseball Rules, both teams are permitted to add an extra player for today's games.

Ramirez, who made his first career Opening Day roster with Boston this season, has appeared in nine games over two stints with the Red Sox, posting no record with a 5.79 ERA (6 ER/9.1 IP) and 10 strikeouts. The 26-year-old is 0-3 with a 4.00 ERA (4 ER/9.0 IP) in five relief outings with Pawtucket this season, most recently throwing 1.1 scoreless innings on May 14 against Gwinnett and 2.0 scoreless frames on May 10 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. For his major league career, the Red Sox' fourth-round selection in the 2011 June Draft has gone 0-1 with a 4.84 ERA (12 ER/22.1 IP) and 23 strikeouts in 26 appearances, all with Boston (2015-16).
