DETROIT - The Tigers continue their nine-game homestand with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22 and close out the homestand with three games against the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 23 through Wednesday, May 25.
The Rays come to town for a weekend series with Friday's game slated for 7:10 p.m., Saturday's game is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. and Sunday's game will start at 1:10 p.m. While the Tigers will face the Phillies in two night games on Monday and Tuesday with 7:10 p.m. starts and a series finale on Wednesday scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

·   Verlander's Victory for Veterans: This season, for each Saturday home game, Justin Verlander hosts Veterans from Veterans Affairs Medical Centers throughout the state of Michigan. These Veterans sustained injuries or illness in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Veterans along with their families cheer on the Tigers from the comfort of Verlander's personal luxury suite. After serving our country, the special day provides American veterans the opportunity to enjoy a Tigers game with their family. ·   Military Flyover: Two A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" aircrafts from the 107th Fighter Squadron and part of the 127th Wing located at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI. The 107th just recently returned from a six month Deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in which over 300 Michigan Airmen deployed and all returned safely.
Wednesday, May 25 vs. Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10 p.m. Gates Open at 11:30 a.m.
·   Journalism Day: Prior to Wednesday's game vs. the Phillies at 1:10 p.m., over 2,100 students from local schools will participate in Journalism Day, the fourth installment of the Tigers' annual "Class Outside Series," presented by Oakland University. Students attending will learn about careers in journalism from the people who cover the Detroit Tigers for radio, television, print and other news outlets. This year's panel headlines the voice of the Detroit Tigers, radio broadcaster Dan Dickerson of 97.1 FM The Ticket.
·   The national anthem will be performed by vocalist Kenny Nelson and signed by the Romeo High School Sign Language Choir, accompanied by the Jr. ROTC Honor Guard.
·   Aquafina School Incentive and Reward Program: Over the course of four games, the Detroit Tigers Foundation and Aquafina will host over 10,000 students from area schools to reward and thank students as part of the annual Detroit Tigers School Incentive and Reward Program. On May 25, as part of the School Incentive and Reward Program, a total of 1,500 custom drawstring backpacks will be given away to students courtesy of Aquafina and the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities.
