White Sox recall Johnson from Class AAA Charlotte; option Sanchez to Charlotte

Following Game 1 of Monday's straight doubleheader vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox optioned infielder Carlos Sanchez to Class AAA Charlotte and recalled right-hander Erik Johnson from Charlotte.

CHICAGO - Following Game 1 of tonight's straight doubleheader vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox optioned infielder Carlos Sanchez to Class AAA Charlotte and recalled right-hander Erik Johnson from Charlotte.
 
Johnson, 26, is scheduled to start Game 2 tonight vs. the Indians. He suffered the loss in his only start with the White Sox this season on May 5 vs. Boston, allowing four runs on eight hits over 5.0 IP. Johnson is 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA (14 ER/35.1 IP), one complete game and 25 strikeouts over six starts with the Knights this season.
 
Sanchez, 23, is hitting .154 (4-26) with one RBI over 11 games with the White Sox in 2016. He is hitting .309 (25-81) with four doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, nine runs scored and six stolen bases over 20 games with Charlotte this season.
