The Oakland A's placed left-handed pitcher Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 30 with a left groin strain, the club announced today.

The Oakland A's placed left-handed pitcher Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 30 with a left groin strain, the club announced today.
 
Hill was 8-3 with a 2.25 ERA and .207 opponents batting average in 11 starts. He ranks second in the American League in ERA, tied for second in wins and third with an average of 10.41 strikeouts per nine innings. Hill was named AL Pitcher of the Month for May after going 5-1 with a 2.13 ERA and .178 opponents batting average in six starts. He currently has a five-game winning streak and his eight wins are three short of his career high of 11 established in 2007 with Chicago (NL). The 36-year-old left-hander is now 10-4 with a 2.03 ERA and .187 opponents batting average in 15 starts over the last two years.
