BOSTON, MA -- The Boston Red Sox today continued their participation in Major League Baseball's 2016 June Draft with eight additional selections in rounds 3-10. Red Sox Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Rikard made the announcement.
 
Over the first two days of the draft, Boston has selected four pitchers (three right-handers, one left-hander), two outfielders, three infielders, and one catcher. Of the 10 players drafted, two are from high school and eight are from college.
 
With their first pick today, 88th overall, the Red Sox selected right-handed pitcher Shaun Anderson out of the University of Florida. The 21-year-old junior leads the Southeastern Conference with 13 saves in 33 relief appearances for the Gators this season, going 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA (5 ER/43.0 IP), 56 strikeouts, and six walks. He has limited opposing hitters to a .195 batting average and recorded a 0.84 WHIP, allowing just two extra-base hits over the course of the season. A native of Coral Springs, FL, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Anderson has made 63 appearances (one start) over a three-year college career, going 3-2 with a 2.83 ERA (26 ER/82.2 IP), 85 strikeouts, and 14 saves. A product of American Heritage High School in Plantation, FL, he was selected by the Washington Nationals as the 1,216th and final pick in the 40th round of the 2013 June Draft, but did not sign.
