Umpire John Tumpane Appointed to Full-Time Major League Staff

Major League Baseball announced today that John Tumpane has been named to the full-time Major League Umpiring staff.

Major League Baseball announced today that John Tumpane has been named to the full-time Major League Umpiring staff.
Tumpane, a professional umpire since the 2002 season, has worked at the Triple-A level since 2009. The 33-year-old has umpired in the Gulf Coast League (Rookie league), the New York-Penn League (Single-A), the South Atlantic League (Single-A), the Florida State League (Single-A), the Eastern League (Double-A), the International League (Triple-A) and the Pacific Coast League (Triple-A). Tumpane, who worked his first Spring Training game in 2009, served as an umpire at the 2008 Futures Game and worked the inaugural MLB Umpire Camp in 2006. John will continue to work with the crew of Jeff Kellogg.
