Prior to tonight's game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Boston Red Sox outfielder/infielder Brock Holt was returned from his injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket and activated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, infielder Mike Miller was optioned to Pawtucket.

Holt was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list on May 20 (retroactive to May 19) and transferred to the 15-day disabled list on June 2. In eight rehab appearances with Pawtucket, the left-handed batter went 8-for-25 (.320) with two runs, two doubles, five walks, and a .433 on-base percentage. The 28-year-old has posted a .239 batting average (27-for-113) with four doubles, three home runs, 19 RBI, and 17 runs scored over 35 games with the major league club this season, appearing defensively at left field (31 games), third base (four games), shortstop (four games), and second base (three games). Holt, who was acquired from Pittsburgh in December 2012, has a .273 career batting average (311-for-1,140) with 156 runs, 58 doubles, 12 triples, nine home runs, and 107 RBI in 320 games between the Pirates (2012) and the Red Sox (2013-16).
sMiller played in one game for Boston during his first career major league stint, grounding out as a pinch-hitter on June 27 against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. The 26-year-old has hit .251 (46-for-183) between Pawtucket (46 games) and Double-A Portland (six games) this season, appearing defensively for the PawSox at second base (32 starts), third base (seven starts), and shortstop (six starts). A native of Concord, CA, Miller has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 minor league games since June 15, going 15-for-46 (.326) for Pawtucket in that span. Having spent his entire professional career in the Red Sox organization since being selected by the club in the ninth round of the 2012 June Draft, Miller has hit .267 (317-for-1,189) with 60 doubles, four triples, and eight home runs in 319 career minor league games.
