CLEVELAND, OH - Major League Baseball today announced SS FRANCISCO LINDOR and RHP DANNY SALAZAR have been selected to the American League All-Star Team. The game will be played on Tuesday, July 12th in San Diego's Petco Park.

Lindor, 22, entered play today hitting .299 (94-314) with 15 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 53 runs scored in 81 games. He is currently leading the team in average, hits and runs and ranks tied for 11th in the American League in hits (94) and tied for 14th in runs scored. His 13 stolen bases are tied for 7th in the A.L. Among qualified shortstops he ranks second in the American League in fielding pct. (.989, 4E, 374TC) and first in defensive runs saved (9). He is the youngest Indians All-Star player since Buddy Bell (21) in 1973. He is the fourth-youngest Indians All-Star behind Bell, Bob Feller and Herb Score.
Salazar has gone 10-3 with a 2.36 ERA (26ER/99.0IP) through his first 16 starts of the 2016 season. The 26-year-old right-hander has been one of the best hurlers in the American League this season, as he ranks first in ERA, tied for 3rd in wins, 2nd in average against (.195), 3rd in strikeouts-per-9.0IP (10.27) and 2nd in hits-per-9.0IP (6.27).
Salazar was named AL Pitcher of the Month in June after going 5-0 with a 1.91 ERA (7ER/33.0IP) through five starts last month, marking his first career Pitcher of the Month title. With his win on June 29, he became the first Cleveland pitcher to notch 10 wins by July 1 since Justin Masterson (10-6) did so in 2013. Also, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he is the third Indians pitcher with 10+ wins & 100+ strikeouts over the first 15 starts of a season, joining Feller (4x) and Luis Tiant.
The last time the Indians had two "homegrown" players earn All-Star bids was in 2007 (CC Sabathia/Victor Martinez).
