MLB hires Ileana Peña as Senior Director, Business Communications

Major League Baseball today announced the hiring of Ileana Peña as Senior Director, Business Communications. The longtime PR professional will begin in her new role during MLB All-Star Week in San Diego.

Major League Baseball today announced the hiring of Ileana Peña as Senior Director, Business Communications. The longtime PR professional will begin in her new role during MLB All-Star Week in San Diego.
Peña will handle communications in areas including television, entertainment, league marketing, player promotion and with Spanish language media outlets. She will report to Matt Bourne, MLB's Vice President, Business Communications.
Prior to joining MLB, Peña worked in the FOX Sports Communications Department for 17 years, most recently as Director of Communications. In her capacity at FOX, Peña worked closely with MLB in promoting its game telecasts and jewel events, the All-Star Game and the World Series.
"Ileana made significant contributions to MLB during her time at FOX Sports, and we are thrilled that she is joining our team," said Pat Courtney, Chief Communications Officer of Major League Baseball. "Ileana has a great reputation and is an outstanding relationship-builder. Her experience working with the MLB Communications Department and the Commissioner's Office make it feel like she is already a part of our team." 
During her tenure at FOX Sports, Peña also worked on projects with the NFL, NASCAR, NCAA Football and UFC. Peña coordinated promotion of the launch of FS1 in August 2013. She also worked with FSN regional networks, FOXSports.com, FOX Sports Radio and FOX Deportes. Peña is a graduate of St. John's University.
