Astros acquire RHP Lupe Chavez from Blue Jays

The Houston Astros have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Lupe Chavez from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman.

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Lupe Chavez from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.
Chavez, 18, is 4-1 with a 1.69 ERA (6ER/32IP) in six starts this season for the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays. He has allowed just 29 hits and four walks in his 32.0 innings of work this season, posting a 1.03 WHIP. A native of Sinaloa, Mexico, Chavez is in his second professional season after signing with the Blue Jays as an international free agent in July of 2014. In his two seasons, Chavez owns an 11-3 record and a 2.41 ERA (25ER/93.1IP) in 20 games (19 starts).
Feldman, 33, has gone 5-3 with a 2.90 ERA (20ER/62IP) in 26 games (five starts) for the Astros this season. He was in the third and final year of a three-year contract signed by Houston in December of 2013.
With the removal of Feldman, the Astros now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
