The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2016 Major League roster:
 
Recalled LHP SHAWN MORIMANDO (#50) from AAA Columbus.
 
Optioned LHP RYAN MERRITT and INF ERIK GONZALEZ to AAA Columbus.
 
Morimando, 23, has split the season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, going a combined 13-4 with a 2.89 ERA in 21 starts (124.2IP, 110H, 40ER, 44BB, 94SO). He is currently leading all Indians Minor League pitchers in wins, is 4th in ERA (2.89) and 3rd in innings (124.2IP). He was with the Indians on July 2 and made his Major League debut in relief that day in Toronto (3.2IP, 6H, 2R/ER, 1BB, 4SO). He spent the rest of July in AAA Columbus, going 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 5 starts (31.1IP, 33H, 8ER, 8BB, 21 SO) and has not allowed a run over his last 2 starts since July 27 (13.0IP, 9H, 0R).
 
Additionally, UTL MICHAEL MARTINEZ (#1) has reported to the club and has been added to the 25-man roster.
