LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated right-handed reliever Joe Blanton from the Bereavement List and optioned left-hander Luis Avilan to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Blanton, who was placed on the Bereavement List Monday, is 4-2 with a 2.64 ERA in a team-leading 54 games this season.
Avilan, who was optioned following the game on Wednesday, has appeared in 16 games in three stints with the Dodgers this year, limiting opponents to a .200 batting average while striking out 16 in 10.2 innings. The 27-year-old has tossed scoreless baseball in 12 of his 16 games in the big leagues.
