Royals Charities to renovate basement at Ronald McDonald House Charities of KC

Volunteers Will Also Serve a Meal to Families Currently at the House.

On Friday, Royals Charities will officially announce a basement renovation project for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. 
Starting at 10 a.m., Royals Charities will present a check for $50,000 to help fund the project at the organization's Longfellow House, located at 2502 Cherry St., Kansas City, Mo., 64108. Jennifer Bertrand, winner of HGTV's Design Star, is donating her time to design the renovation, using baseball themed items to create a fun and comfortable space for families.
Immediately following the presentation, volunteers from the Royals front office and Royals Charities will prepare and serve a meal to families are who currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Royals catcher, Drew Butera will also join from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The morning event launches Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month for the Royals as September 2 will be recognized as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day across Major League Baseball. Players, coaches and grounds crew will wear special patches on-field. The Royals will also host non-profit organizations Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer and Noah's Bandage Project to the stadium to raise funds and awareness through lemonade sales, calendar sales and a bandage drive.
