LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers today recalled catcher/infielder Austin Barnes, right-handed pitcher Josh Fields and outfielder Yasiel Puig from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and reinstated right-handed pitchers Louis Coleman and Josh Ravin from the 15-day disabled list. Los Angeles now has 30 players on its active roster.
Barnes, 26, batted .295 with a .380 on-base percentage, six home runs and 39 RBI in 85 games with Oklahoma City this year and went 3-for-23 (.130) with a double and an RBI in 14 games in three previous stints with the Dodgers after making the club's Opening Day roster. Barnes has appeared in five games (three starts) at catcher and four games (two starts) at second base this year, his second Major League season. The Riverside native was acquired by the Dodgers from the Marlins in a seven-player trade on Dec. 10, 2014.
Coleman went 2-1 with a 3.70 ERA in 50 appearances with the Dodgers before being placed on the disabled list on Aug. 3 with right shoulder fatigue. He made four rehab appearances with Oklahoma City and the Rookie-level AZL Dodgers, allowing only an unearned run in 4.0 innings.
Fields, who was acquired by the Dodgers on Aug. 1 from Houston, went 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA in 11 games with Los Angeles prior to being optioned on Aug. 23. With OKC, he allowed two runs in 2.0 innings in two appearances, last pitching on Aug. 29 vs. Memphis.
Puig posted a .358/.422/.605 slashline in 24 games with Oklahoma City, going 29-for-81 with five home runs and 14 RBI, after he was optioned on Aug. 2. He appeared in 81 games with Los Angeles this year, batting .260 with seven home runs and 34 RBI in his fourth big-league season.
Ravin, 28, made three scoreless appearances with the Dodgers (2.0 IP) from Aug. 8-13 before returning to the DL with right triceps inflammation. The West Hills native, who opened the season on the 60-day DL with a fractured left radius, has posted a 1.80 ERA in seven minor league games (three starts) this season with the Rookie-level AZL Dodgers, Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City, while limiting opponents to a .111 batting average with 19 strikeouts in 10.0 innings in the minors.
