The Oakland A's extended their Player Development Contract with the Beloit Snappers of the Midwest League through 2018, the club announced today. Beloit is the A's Single-A affiliate. The relationship began in 2013.
"We are excited to extend our relationship with Beloit," said A's General Manager David Forst. "Dennis Conerton and his staff run a fantastic organization and we're thrilled to continue working together to develop our players."
"We are very pleased to extend our affiliation with the Athletics for another two years. We have enjoyed working with their staff over the past four years and look forward to continuing this working relationship" said Dennis Conerton, President of the Beloit Snappers. "It has been exciting for our fans to already have three of our former Snappers Players from the previous four seasons advance to the Major League level for the A's and we anticipate seeing many more do so in the future."
The A's have seven players on the 40-man roster that played for the Snappers on their journey to the majors: Raul Alcantara (2013), Ryan Dull (2013), Liam Hendriks (as a member of the Minnesota Twins organization in 2009-10), Tyler Ladendorf (as a member of the Minnesota Twins organization in 2009), Bruce Maxwell (2013), Renato Nunez (2013), and Danny Valencia (as a member of the Minnesota Twins organization in 2007).
