The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis from the 60-day disabled list. Lewis will make his first start since June 21 on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.
 
To make for Lewis on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Michael Roth has been designated for assignment.
 
Lewis is 6-1 with a 3.21 ERA in 15 starts for Texas in 2016. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 22 with a right latissimus dorsi muscle strain and was moved to the 60-day DL on July 3. Lewis made two rehab starts at Double-A Frisco, allowing 6 runs in 6.0 IP, and issued 4 runs in 5.0 IP in his most recent rehab start on Monday for Short Season-A Spokane at Everett.
 
Roth was 11-5, 2.97 in 28 games/23 starts at Triple-A Round Rock this season. He was purchased by the Rangers on July 3 and allowed 6 runs in 3.2 relief innings in his only outing on July 4 at Boston. He was optioned to Round Rock on July 6.
 
The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release, or outright Roth to the minor leagues.
 
With the addition of Lewis, Texas has 34 players on its active roster.
