The New York Mets today announced that lefthanded pitcher Steven Matz will not pitch the rest of the 2016 season or postseason due to a sore left shoulder. The shoulder will not require surgery. However, Matz will undergo surgery next week at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to remove bone spurs in his left elbow.
