Blue Jays restructure baseball operations

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS, as part of a restructuring within baseball operations and continued effort to align responsibilities and skill sets in the most effective way, have promoted JOE SHEEHAN to the position of Assistant General Manager, appointed PERRY MINASIAN to the position of Special Assistant to the General Manager and have hired STEVE SANDERS to serve as Amateur Scouting Director.

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS, as part of a restructuring within baseball operations and continued effort to align responsibilities and skill sets in the most effective way, have promoted JOE SHEEHAN to the position of Assistant General Manager, appointed PERRY MINASIAN to the position of Special Assistant to the General Manager and have hired STEVE SANDERS to serve as Amateur Scouting Director. 
SHEEHAN first joined the Blue Jays in 2010 in the position of Baseball Information Analyst before being promoted to Manager, Baseball Research and Development in January of 2015 and then to the position of Director, Analytics in December of last year. The Winchester, Massachusetts native worked for San Diego, Colorado and Pittsburgh before joining the Blue Jays. Joe will report to the GM, Ross Atkins, and oversee the Professional Scouting and Analytics Departments.
MINASIAN has served as the Director of Professional Scouting since October 2009. The Chicago, Illinois native has spent his life in baseball after starting as a bat boy for the Texas Rangers in 1998. Prior to joining the Blue Jays as a Major League Scout before the 2009 season, he held a number or roles with the Texas Rangers, including Major League Advance Scout and staff assistant to Major League coaching staff. Perry will increase his scouting efforts and touch every acquisition level more frequently in his new role. 
SANDERS joins the Blue Jays from the Boston Red Sox where he most recently held the position of Assistant Director, Amateur Scouting.   The graduate of Northwestern University worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2009 and 2010 before joining the Red Sox in 2011. He served as both an amateur & international scouting assistant and coordinator of amateur and international scouting prior to serving as assistant director. Steve will report to Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations and Assistant General Manager, Tony LaCava.
