Major League Baseball today announced details for the ceremonial activities of Game Six of the 2016 World Series, which will be hosted by the American League Champion Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. The 112th Fall Classic between the Indians and the National League Champion Chicago Cubs continues tonight, Tuesday, November 1st, with live coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
DENNIS MARTINEZ TO THROW CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCH: Four-time MLB All-Star Dennis Martinez will throw the ceremonial first pitch of Game Six. "El Presidente" was a member of the 1995 American League Champion Indians.
U.S. NATIONAL ANTHEM & GOD BLESS AMERICA PERFORMANCES: The U.S. National Anthem prior to Game Six will be performed by five-time GRAMMY nominee Hunter Hayes. Hailed as a "country-rock-blues guitar hero in the making" by the Los Angeles Times, Hayes is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who roared onto the music scene with his double-Platinum-selling, No. 1 self-titled debut album and chart-topping sophomore album, Storyline, on Atlantic / Warner Music Nashville. He has three No. 1 singles already under his belt (including the multi-Platinum smash "Wanted," double-Platinum "I Want Crazy" and "Somebody's Heartbreak") and his new single, "Yesterday's Song," is currently available at digital retailers and Country radio.
"God Bless America" will be performed during pregame ceremonies by U.S. Army Private First Class Briahna Marie Shaniuk. Shaniuk, from Brunswick, Ohio, is currently stationed out of Cincinnati with the 372nd Military Intelligence Battalion, Bravo Company.
GAME BALL DELIVERY: Boys & Girls Clubs of America's "Ohio Youth of the Year" Rosetta Shepherd, 18, from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County in Lorain, OH, will deliver the official game ball of Game Six to the mound with former Indians All-Star pitcher Len Barker, who threw the 10th perfect game in MLB history while with the Club in 1981. Shepherd is a freshman at Lorain County Community College.
