Earlier today, the Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) were inducted into the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence for the third consecutive year. The honor recognizes companies leading the way in supplier diversity by spending more than $1 million annually with minority and women-owned businesses in Arizona. The D-backs are one of 28 companies across the state to be inducted.
"We recognize the great importance of a diverse workforce and supplier base and we are proud to support minority and women-owned businesses across the state," said D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall. "Arizona is one of the most diverse states in our nation and the D-backs are excited to help lead the way in expanding those opportunities in not just baseball, but by encouraging our partners in the community to do the same."
The D-backs partnered with Major League Baseball to co-host the 2016 MLB Diversity Business Summit in Greater Phoenix this past March which offered a unique sports employment and business opportunity career and trade fair. It provided job seekers and entrepreneurs with opportunities to connect directly with decision-makers regarding employment and business opportunities. Features of the 2016 MLB Diversity Business Summit included event-wide networking, exhibit floor access, workshops, executive roundtable discussions and a keynote speech by Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. as well as exclusive access to human resource and procurement executives from all 30 MLB Clubs, MLB Network, MLB Advanced Media, Minor League Baseball Clubs and MLB's Central Office.
