On November 29, 2016, JAYS CARE FOUNDATION, the charitable arm of the TORONTO BLUE JAYS, and RYERSON UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS will host the first ever Big Sports Day for participants in the Home Run Scholars program.
Big Sports Days, to be held monthly, will see youth participants from Home Run Scholars join student-athletes for an afternoon of physical activity and educational support. The partnership between Jays Care, TORONTO COMMUNITY HOUSING and Ryerson University provides Home Run Scholar participants with access to high-quality athletic facilities, positive local role models and the opportunity to experience a post-secondary campus.
The hours after school finishes can be a vulnerable time for children. Jays Care and Toronto Community Housing have launched the Home Run Scholars program to provide a place for children to go after school and an exceptional program that works with children to improve academic performance, enhance physical health, enhance social and emotional well-being and improve student behaviour after school.
