Community heroes who are assisting the underserved are getting some much-deserved recognition.
In honor of #GivingTuesday, Phillies Charities, Inc. is saluting dozens of local charities and organizations who are making an impact in the Phillies' major league and minor league community. Each of these community heroes (listed below) will take center stage on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Phillies Charities, Inc. Holiday Giving Party at Citizens Bank Park, where they will be saluted by the organization for their charitable efforts. This special event will also recognize those who were selected to receive a 2016 Phillies Charities, Inc. grant, distributed so their community efforts could continue.
"There are many charities in our communities doing admirable work to better the lives of others," said Lyn Montgomery, President, Phillies Charities, Inc. "It is our hope that Phillies Charities' involvement will enhance the efforts of these charitable organizations providing vital services to individuals and families in need."
In the past year, more than $1.2 million was awarded by Phillies Charities, Inc. to charitable organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and near the Phillies spring training and minor league affiliates. Phillies Charities, Inc. serves as the fundraising arm of the Phillies organization and awards grants to a variety of charitable organizations each year.
