The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the signing of two minor league free agents, which includes an invitation to Major League spring training camp.
Dan Runzler (LHP) -- Attended spring training as a non-roster invitee with Minnesota last season before being assigned to Triple-A Rochester to begin the year...Allowed an earned run in just one of his first seven appearances (8.1ip/3er)...Was released on 6/22 and signed by the independent Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League on 7/5...Has a career record of 4-2 with a 3.86 ERA (72.1ip/31er) in 89 appearances (one start) in the big leagues in parts of four seasons (2009-12) spent with San Francisco.
Jason Stoffel (RHP) -- Posted a combined record of 3-5 with 24 saves and a 2.44 ERA (59.0ip/16er) in 55 relief appearances last season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk...Led all Orioles minor leagu- ers with 24 saves in 2016...Has a career record of 28-22 with 116 saves and a 3.34 ERA (426.1ip/158er) in 381 career relief appearances in the minors since making his professional debut in 2009 with the Arizona League Giants...Was a 2012 mid- and post-season All-Star in the Texas League while pitching for Corpus Christi and a 2013 mid-season All-Star in the Pacific Coast League while playing for Oklahoma City...Was originally selected by San Francisco in the fourth round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
