Royals Charities, Alumni Foundation to visit Variety & Police Athletic League

As a part of the second annual Royals Charities Giving Week, Royals Charities and the Royals Alumni Association will visit Variety Children's Charity of Kansas City and the Police Athletic League of Kansas City.

As a part of the second annual Royals Charities Giving Week, Royals Charities and the Royals Alumni Association will visit Variety Children's Charity of Kansas City and the Police Athletic League of Kansas City.
Royals Charities and the Royals Alumni Association will visit Variety during their first stop of the day. At 9:30 a.m., Royals Charities will present a check for $60,000 to support the construction of an inclusive playground at Leawood City Park. The Royals Alumni Foundation will also present a check for an additional $5,000. Royals alumni participating in the event will include Tom Burgmeier, Al Fitzmorris, Mike Macfarlane and Jamie Quirk. The presentation will take place at Nativity Catholic School located at 3700 W. 119th St., Leawood, Kan. 66209. A short message about the importance of inclusion will be presented, and children in attendance will be treated to Krispy Kreme donuts.
Later today, the second event will take place at 3 p.m. at the Police Athletic League of Kansas City located at 1801 White Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 64126. Royals Charities will present a check for $40,000 to renovate locker rooms. The Royals Alumni Foundation will also donate $5,000 to renovate a laundry room. Alumni planning to attend will include Jim Eisenreich, John Mayberry, Mike Myers and Fred Patek. While there, the two Royals organizations will take in a facility tour and basketball scrimmage.
Yesterday, Royals Charities presented a check for $200,000 to the University of Kansas Hospital to support the children and families waiting room in the new Cambridge North building. Royals Charities will be traveling all over the Greater Kansas City area throughout the week presenting grants to various organizations.
