The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that three Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Milwaukee Brewers Minor League right-handed pitcher Phil Bickford has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse. The suspension of Bickford, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Carolina Mudcats of the Carolina League, will be effective at the start of the 2017 Carolina League season.
Toronto Blue Jays Minor League right-handed pitcher Pedro Loficial has received a 72-game suspension without pay after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Loficial, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Dominican Summer League Blue Jays, will be effective at the start of the 2017 DSL season.
Miami Marlins Minor League outfielder Casey Soltis has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse. The suspension of Soltis, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League, will be effective at the start of the 2017 SAL season.
