SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced they have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Ramon Perez. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.
The 17-year-old Cuba native was a teammate of recent Padres signee Adrian Morejon on the 15-Under Cuban National Team that won the gold medal in the 15-Under World Cup in Mexico in 2014. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound left hander also pitched in Cuba's top professional league, Serie Nacional, for Indios de Guantanamo in 2014, at the age of 15. Perez hails from Guantanamo and has spent the last year training in the Dominican Republic.
