D-backs agree to terms with Chris Iannetta on a 1-year contract

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have agreed to terms with C Chris Iannetta (@Chris_Iannetta) on a 1-year contract and designated C Juan Graterol for assignment, as announced by D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Mike Hazen.

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have agreed to terms with C Chris Iannetta (@Chris_Iannetta) on a 1-year contract and designated C Juan Graterol for assignment, as announced by D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Mike Hazen.
"With Chris, we're getting a veteran catcher with a great ability to handle a pitching staff," Hazen said. "His experience gives us added stability and vision behind the plate."
Iannetta, 33, ranks fourth among active catchers in fielding percentage (.995) since his debut in 2006, trailing A.J. Ellis (.997), Ryan Hanigan (.996) and Joe Mauer (.996). He also ranks among catching leaders in pickoffs (5th, 15), games (8th, 900) and innings (8th, 7550.2) in that time. He has played parts of 11 Major League seasons with the Rockies (2006-11), Angels (2012-15) and Mariners (2016), playing in 946 games with a .229 average, 139 doubles, 107 homers and 402 RBI. 
Graterol, 27, was claimed off waivers by the D-backs from the Reds on Dec. 23, 2016.
The D-backs 40-man roster remains at 40.
