The Texas Rangers will host the San Diego Padres, Oakland A's, and Philadelphia Phillies on the team's upcoming eight-game homestand which runs from May 10-18.
The homestand, which features a pair of National League opponents as well as the division rival A's, will include four giveaways and Friday Fireworks among the highlights.
The Padres continue this two-game home and home series with the Rangers as they come to Arlington for 7:05 p.m. contests on Wednesday and Thursday, May 10-11. Tomorrow's homestand opener is Texas Chili Company Dollar Hot Dog Night and Dr Pepper Autograph Wednesday. On May 11, the first 10,000 fans receive the second of seven Papa John's Texas Rangers Throwback Thursday Collector Pins recognizing Yu Darvish's 2013 A.L. strikeout title.
The A's make the second of three trips to Arlington in 2017 with 7:05 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13 and a 2:05 p.m. matinee on Sunday, May 14. Friday Fireworks will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the epic Beatles album which debuted on June 1, 1967. It will also be the first of the 2017 FOX Sports Southwest University Nights with Texas Tech University on hand.
On Saturday, the first 15,000 fans get a Dr Pepper/Tom Thumb Elvis Andrus High Five Bobblehead. This is the first in a series of two "High Five" bobbleheads with the Rougned Odor Bobblehead giveaway scheduled for July 29. May 13 is also the Rangers' annual Bark at the Park event with hundreds of canines expected to be in attendance and participate in a pregame on-field parade (registration for Bark at the Park is closed). For the Mother's Day finale of the A's series, the first 15,000 fans, 14 and older will receive a Rangers Infinity Scarf on MLB's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
The Phillies will make just their third visit ever to Globe Life Park in Arlington (June 27-29, 2008; March 31-April 2, 2014) for 7:05 p.m. games on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 16-17 and a 1:05 p.m. contest on Thursday, May 18. May 17 is Texas Chili Company Dollar Hot Dog Night and Dr Pepper Autograph Wednesday. The first 10,000 fans entering the park on May 18 receive a Papa John's Texas Rangers Throwback Thursday Collector Pin that highlights Nolan Ryan's seventh no-hitter on May 1, 1991.
In addition, CBS 11 meteorologists will present the 12th annual Weather Day, an educational pre-game presentation to area schoolchildren, prior to the May 18 game. CBS 11 Meteorologists Scott Padgett, Jeff Jamison and Jeff Ray will host a "Texas Weather Experts" class, with special appearances by Rangers Captain and the Six-Shooters squad, at approximately 10:00 a.m. The presentation will include interactive lessons, demonstrations and experiments designed to teach students about a number of topics. Admission to Weather Day is open to anyone with the purchase of a ticket to the Rangers-Phillies game. Globe Life Park gates will open at 9:30 a.m. on May 18.
During the homestand, the Rangers will have voting stations set up at Globe Life Park for 2017 Esurance Major League Baseball All-Star balloting to select the starting lineups for the 88th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 11 at Marlins Park in Miami.
