Red Sox Reverse Option of LHP Robbie Ross Jr. and Place Him on DL

The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have reversed the option of left-handed pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from May 18, and have placed him on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to May 19) with left elbow inflammation.

The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have reversed the option of left-handed pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from May 18, and have placed him on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to May 19) with left elbow inflammation.
Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
Ross, 27, was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket postgame on May 18, but did not appear in a game with the PawSox. As a result of his medical condition on the date of his option, which was unknown to the Red Sox at the time, Ross's option was reversed, and he was placed on the disabled list in accordance with the major league rules.
