A's Reinstate LHP Sean Doolittle; Place RHP Andrew Triggs on the DL

The Oakland A's reinstated left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle from the 10-day disabled list and recalled first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. The A's also placed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hip.

The Oakland A's reinstated left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle from the 10-day disabled list and recalled first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. The A's also placed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hip.
Doolittle had a 3.52 ERA and .185 opponents batting average in nine relief appearances when he was placed on the DL May 3 retroactive to April 30 with a strained left shoulder. He made two rehab appearances with Single-A Stockton on June 2 and 5 and one with Triple-A Nashville on June 7 and did not allow a base runner in three rehab outings overall (3.0 ip, 5 so).
Olson joins the A's for the third time this year and is 0-for-3 in two games. He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in one game in right field during his first stint from April 21 to 26 and had a pinch hit bases loaded walk for his first career RBI last Sunday in his only game during his second stint from June 3 to 5. Olson batted .286 with 15 home runs and 38 RBI in 50 games with Nashville. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter is tied for fourth in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, ranks fifth in slugging (.582) and sixth in OPS (.958). He appeared in 47 games at first base and one at third base.
Triggs is 5-6 with a 4.27 ERA in 12 starts with the A's this year. He was 0-4 with a 9.64 ERA, .381 opponents batting average and seven home runs in 18.2 innings over his last four starts after going 5-2 with a 2.12 ERA, .209 opponents average and two home runs in 46.2 innings over his first eight starts.
