Rangers Acquire LHP Joely Rodriguez from Phillies

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Joely Rodriguez from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Rodriguez has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Joely Rodriguez from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Rodriguez has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Rodriguez had spent the entire 2017 season with the Phillies before being designated for assignment on June 8. He was 1-2, 6.33 (27.0 IP, 37 H, 26 R, 19 ER, 15 BB, 18 SO, 4 HR) in 26 relief appearances with Philadelphia. The left-hander made his major league debut with the Phillies in September 2016, compiling a 2.79 ERA over 12 games. Overall, he is 1-2, 5.40 in 38 career big league outings.
Rodriguez spent his first six pro seasons in the Pittsburgh organization before being acquired by Philadelphia in December 2014.
With today's move, Texas' major league roster is at 40 players.
