Pirates sign 2017 third round selection Dylan Busby

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed 3rd round pick Dylan Busby from the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following player from the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting.
3rd Round: Dylan Busby, INF, 6-3/185, Florida State University, Assigned to West Virginia Black Bears - Hit .315 (78-for-248) with 21 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs and 65 RBI in 63 games as a junior this season at Florida State ... Also led Florida State in home runs (15) and doubles (21) this season ... Went 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a two-run home run, on 6/17 against LSU in this year's College World Series ... His father, Wayne, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1988 ... Led Florida State in slugging percentage (.597) during his sophomore year in 2016 ... Earned Most Outstanding Player honors from the Tallahassee Regional in 2016 after batting .417 with a 1.118 slugging percentage ... Was tabbed by Baseball America as the No. 4 prospect in the Cape Cod League in 2016 while playing for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks ... Was named to the 2015 ACC All-Freshman team while also taking home Freshman All-American honors by Collegiate Baseball ... Is a 2013 graduate of Sarasota High School, where he was selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Baseball Classic after his senior season.
The Pirates have now signed each of their first 13 selections, 17 of the first 18 and a total of 35 players from the 2017 Draft.
