KANSAS CITY, MO (July 1, 2017) -- The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm on the 10-day disabled list with left knee inflammation. To take Strahm's place on the roster, the Royals have recalled right-handed pitcher Miguel Almonte from Omaha (AAA). Almonte (#50) will be in uniform for this evening's contest against the Minnesota Twins, which is scheduled to begin at 7:35 p.m.
This marks Almonte's third stint in the Major Leagues this season. Strahm, 25, pitched in the first game of today's split doubleheader, but departed with two outs in the fourth inning due to the injury.
