The Boston Red Sox today traded minor league first baseman Nick Longhi to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for international amateur signing bonus pool space.
President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
Longhi, 21, has spent the entire 2017 season with Double-A Portland, batting .262 (62-for-237) with 15 doubles, six home runs, and 33 RBI in 62 games for the Sea Dogs. Selected by Boston in the 30th round of the 2013 June Draft, he has hit .278 (363-for-1,304) with 16 home runs and a .738 OPS in 347 minor league games, all in the Red Sox organization. The right-handed batter has made 216 starts at first base, as well as 67 in right field and 21 in left field.
