Mariners option infielder Taylor Motter to AAA Tacoma

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that infielder Taylor Motter has been optioned to AAA Tacoma. A corresponding roster move will be announced prior to tonight's game.

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that infielder Taylor Motter has been optioned to AAA Tacoma. A corresponding roster move will be announced prior to tonight's game.
· Taylor Motter, INF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 7/23).
Motter, 27, appeared in 70 games with Seattle, hitting .204 with 24 runs scored, 11 doubles, 7 home runs and 23 RBI. In his first 18 games this season (April 4-26), he hit .262 (16x61) with 7 doubles, 5 home runs and 13 RBI, but hit .180 (27x150) with 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 10 RBI in 52 games since April 27. Defensively, he appeared at every position except center field, pitcher and catcher.
Motter was acquired (with INF Richie Shaffer) from the Tampa Bay Rays on Dec. 16, 2016 in exchange for Dalton Kelly (inf), Andrew Kittridge (rhp) and Dylan Thompson (rhp). He made his MLB debut with the Rays in 2016, appearing in 33 games.
