Colorado Rockies recall right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz to Triple-A.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz to Triple-A.

  • Estévez, 24, will be making his fifth stint on the Major League roster, which includes an appointment as the 26th man on May 18 … made his first career Opening Day roster this season, and has combined to go 4-0 with a 8.10 ERA (16.2 IP, 15 ER), six walks and 18 strikeouts in 18 games with Colorado … in 25 relief appearances with Albuquerque this season, is 1-3 with a 1.78 ERA (25.1 IP, 5 ER), nine walks and 23 strikeouts … the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native made his Major League debut for Colorado on April 23, 2016 vs. Los Angeles-NL and has gone 7-7 with 11 saves and a 5.90 ERA (71.2 IP, 47 ER) with 34 walks and 77 strikeouts over 81 career appearances.
  • Díaz, 26, was recalled from Triple-A on July 17, his second appearance on the Rockies active roster this season … is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA (5.0 IP, 5 ER), five walks and two strikeouts in four appearances with Colorado this season … in 30 career appearances across parts of three seasons with Los Angeles-AL (2014) and Colorado (2015-17), has gone 0-1 with a 3.64 ERA (29.2 IP, 12 ER), 14 walks and 28 strikeouts … was acquired by Colorado from the Angels in exchange for Josh Rutledge on Dec. 10, 2014.
