D-backs Acquire John Ryan Murphy from Twins for Gabriel Moya

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired C John Ryan Murphy from the Minnesota Twins for LHP Gabriel Moya. Murphy will be assigned to Triple-A Reno. In a corresponding move, OF Yasmany Tomás was transferred from the 10-day to 60-day disabled list with right groin tendinitis.

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired C John Ryan Murphy from the Minnesota Twins for LHP Gabriel Moya. Murphy will be assigned to Triple-A Reno. In a corresponding move, OF Yasmany Tomás was transferred from the 10-day to 60-day disabled list with right groin tendinitis.
Murphy, 26, has appeared in 141 Major League games over 4 seasons with the New York Yankees (2013-15) and Twins (2016), hitting .238 (82-for-344) with 17 doubles, 5 home runs and 27 RBI. In 59 games with Triple-A Rochester this season, he threw out 39.1 percent of attempted basestealers (18-of-46) and batted .222 (43-for-194) with 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 27 RBI and 22 walks.
Murphy was ranked by Baseball America as one of the Yankees' Top 20 prospects for 6 consecutive seasons, peaking as their fourth-best farmhand entering 2014. He owns a .256 (555-for-2,165) career Minor League average with 49 home runs, 291 RBI, .709 OPS and a 30.0 caught-stealing percentage.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound right-hander was selected by the Yankees in the second round of the 2009 draft, and traded to the Twins on Nov. 11, 2015 for OF Aaron Hicks.
Moya, 22, was 4-1 with 17 saves and a 0.82 ERA (4 ER in 43.2 IP) in 34 games with Double-A Jackson this season.
Tomás, 26, has appeared in 47 games for the D-backs, hitting .241 (40-for-166) with a .758 OPS, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 8 homers, 32 RBI and 13 walks.
The D-backs' 40-man roster remains at 40.
