Texas Rangers activate RHP A.J. Griffin from 60-day disabled list

The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin has been activated from the 60-day disabled list and will start tonight's game in Minnesota.

Minneapolis, MN--The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin has been activated from the 60-day disabled list and will start tonight's game in Minnesota.
Toi make room for Griffin, RHP Clayton Blackburn was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock following Wednesday night's game.
Griffin has been on the disabled list since May 27 with a left intercostal strain. He compiled a 2.70 ERA (4 ER/13.1 IP) over 4 rehab starts with the AZL Rangers, Frisco (AA), and Round Rock. Griffin has not started for the Rangers since May 26 at Toronto, departing after 1.1 innings and 4 runs allowed in a 7-6 loss. Griffin is 4-2 with a 5.77 ERA in 8 starts with Texas this season, winning his first 4 decisions.
Blackburn was recalled from Round Rock on July 31 but did not appear in a game for Texas.
With Griffin's reinstatement from the 60-day DL, Texas' 40-man roster is at 37 players.
