The Orioles return today, Monday, August 28, for a ten-game homestand featuring a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, a four-game weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays, and a three-game series against the New York Yankees. The homestand will be highlighted by a special visit from a 17-year old Make-A-Wish child, the Catholic Relief Services Helping Hands "25,000 Meal Challenge," and two giveaway items, including a baseball cap and a TIM BECKHAM T-Shirt. As always, students can enjoy a special discount on Friday nights, and children ages 4-14 can participate in the post-game Kids Run the Bases, presented by Weis Markets, following Sunday games throughout the year. The club will also host approximately 1,500 children as part of the OriolesREACH Gameday Experience Program during the homestand. 
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Major League Baseball and the Orioles are dedicating Friday, September 1, to pediatric cancer awareness. On Friday, the Orioles will welcome 17-year-old Make-A-Wish Foundation member, JIMMY, of Fallston, Md. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2017, Jimmy will sign a contract from Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations, DAN DUQUETTE, to become an honorary member of the Orioles team for the day where he will have his own locker set up with his nameplate and a jersey, glove, and hat waiting inside. He will get the chance to exchange the team's lineup card with the umpires as well as throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to that night's 7:05 p.m. game against the Blue Jays. 
Every year, an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide. On September 1, uniformed Orioles personnel and grounds crew members will wear gold ribbon decals and wristbands to raise awareness and show their support for pediatric cancer patients. Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. This year alone, 840 children in the Mid-Atlantic region are expected to be diagnosed with critical illnesses, and are eligible for a wish. Through local community partners, donations and support, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic is able to impact the lives of children right here in our community, granting more than one wish every day. BIRDLAND COMMUNITY HEROES PROGRAM

Through the Birdland Community Heroes Program, the Orioles recognize community heroes who have inspired others through their spirited commitment to extend a hand in charity, service, hope, and harmony. This recognition honors the heroism of members of our extended Orioles community from all walks of life, occupations, and diverse backgrounds living in our region, our country, and abroad, who have distinguished themselves by selflessly working or volunteering in fields that care for, serve, teach, protect, and improve the lives of others, around the corner or around the globe, who are most in need. 
The Orioles recognize local Birdland Community Heroes at Oriole Park during every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday home game. This homestand, the club will honor two additional Birdland Community Heroes on Monday, August 28.
•   AUGUST 28 -The late Dr. Angela Brodiefrom the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM SOM); for her commitment to breast cancer research. Through her research, Dr. Brodie discovered aromatase inhibitors, a treatment that has saved millions of lives worldwide. Accepting the honor on Dr. Brodie's behalf will be her husband, Dr. Harry Brodie. 
And Carolyn Choate, a breast cancer survivor treated by Dr. Brodie; for her efforts to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Choate and her daughter recently completed a 300-mile kayaking journey in honor of Dr. Brodie. Choate's goal is to help fund the next generation of breast cancer researchers and to recruit the next generation of cancer research supporters.
•    SEPTEMBER 1 - Dr. Ashley Munchel, University of Maryland Medical System; for her care and compassion in the community. Munchel is a lead physician with the pediatric cancer department at UMMS. She serves on the Horizon Day Camp Advisory Board, where she is an advocate and liaison between UMMS and Horizon. She is actively involved with community activities, including HorizonWALKS at Oriole Park and the Horizon Day Camp Summer Dreams benefit. 

•    SEPTEMBER 2 - Sean Callahan; for his years of service on behalf of Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Callahan started serving in Central America, continued on to Africa, and spent many years in India, working closely with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity on the streets of Calcutta. Callahan has helped people affected by floods, droughts, cyclones, and violence. He survived a terrorist attack in Sri Lanka, worked in Afghanistan during and after the Taliban's rule, and now as president of CRS, he leads one of the largest humanitarian agencies in the U.S., which touches the lives of over 100 million people in more than 100 countries around the world. 
•    SEPTEMBER 3 - Sherri Bauman; for her dedication in providing assistance to those battling cancer. As a registered nurse and volunteer in different groups at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bauman dedicates her time to supporting patients in a variety of different stages in their cancer treatment.
Through the Orioles' Great Americana Music Weekends, the club will also continue the tradition of celebrating American principles and ideals with live performances of classic, American songs during the seventh-inning stretch featuring "This Land Is Your Land" on Fridays, "America, The Beautiful" on Saturdays, and "God Bless America" on Sundays.

Every Monday and Thursday home game, former Orioles players will sign autographs on Eutaw Street as part of the Orioles Alumni Autograph Series. MARYLAND FOOD BANK CHECK PRESENTATION

In a pregame ceremony on Tuesday, the Orioles and United Concordia Dental will present checks to the Maryland Food Bank in support of the 31st annual OriolesREACH Food & Funds Drive that took place in July. Orioles fans contributed more than $32,000 and nearly 4,000 pounds of food for Maryland families during this year's drive, which will go toward the Maryland Food Bank's Pack to Give Back event, a state-wide initiative focused on providing meals to families in need for the holidays. United Concordia Dental will also present a check for $10,000, which will support the food bank's efforts to combat hunger statewide.  
TAILS WITH TALES READING PROGRAM

On Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Taylor Gausman, wife of Kevin Gausman, will join members of the Orioles on Deck Employee Volunteer Program presented by Bank of America and more than a dozen students from the Dyslexia Tutoring Program for the "Tails with Tales" program at BARCS (301 Stockholm Street). As part of an ongoing partnership, OriolesREACH and Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS), teamed up with the Gausmans in June to create "Tails with Tales," a new program that encourages childhood reading and promotes social interaction with shelter pets. The project pairs adoptable animals with children as 'reading buddies' in an effort to provide companionship to animals while promoting reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and confidence among youth. Students receive two complimentary tickets to an Orioles game, a book mark, as well as a book of their own to continue practicing reading development. ORIOLES TO HOST MARYLAND CHAMPION LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM

The Orioles will host the 11-12 year-old All-Star team from the Thurmont Little League program for Tuesday's game against the Mariners. The team represented the state of Maryland in the Little League Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament in Bristol, Conn. They nearly advanced to the Little League World Series, but fell in the regional championship game to New Jersey earlier this month. In addition to watching Tuesday's game, the Orioles invited the players and coaches to watch batting practice from the field.

JUNIOR ORIOLES DUGOUT CLUB GAME

Thousands of children who participate in the Junior Orioles Dugout Club will be in attendance on Wednesday to root for the Orioles. The game will be the sixth and final of the season for Slugger Plan members. Kids ages 14 and under who join the Club receive a membership card, a lanyard and ticket holder, a subscription to Orioles Kids magazine, an Orioles cap, sport socks, tickets to six pre-selected Orioles games, all in a Dugout Club backpack. Friends and family members of Dugout Club members can purchase tickets on Dugout Club days for as low as $6 each. Both the Ace Plan and the Slugger Plans are sold out for this season.
THE HARTFORD JUNIOR FIRE MARSHAL PROGRAM

The Hartford is celebrating its seventieth anniversary of their Junior Fire Marshal Program, which was created to teach children the basics of fire prevention and safety. Since the program began in 1947, The Hartford has deputized more than one hundred ten million children as Junior Fire Marshals. Children who attend Wednesday's game can receive a free Orioles orange fire helmet presented by The Hartford near Gate H on Eutaw Street or at Gate C near the Kids Corner. Then during a pregame ceremony on the field, children can participate in saying the Junior Fire Marshal pledge with Lt. Khalilah Yancey of the Baltimore City Fire Department to become a Junior Fire Marshal.

CHRIS DAVIS TO ATTEND CASEY CARES EXTRA INNINGS EVENT

On Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Orioles infielder CHRIS DAVIS will join the Casey Cares Foundation at the Extra Innings facility (6685 Santa Barbara Court, Suite C, Elkridge, MD 21075). Davis will meet, sign autographs for, and play games with critically-ill children and their families. Davis and his wife, JILL, have been working with Casey Cares for the last few years, serving as race ambassadors for the Casey Cares 5K run/walk at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in both 2016 and 2017. This event will be closed to media.

Friday nights are Student Nights at Oriole Park. Any student with a valid ID may purchase a Left Field Upper Reserve ticket for only $7 at every Friday home game during the 2017 regular season. Tickets must be purchased at the Box Office ticket windows at Oriole Park in advance or on the day of the game, subject to availability.
ORIOLES JOIN MLB IN FIGHT AGAINST PEDIATRIC CANCER

ORIOLES PARTNER WITH CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES FOR 25,000 MEAL CHALLENGE

For the second-straight year, the Orioles will host Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Helping Hands, a volunteer meal-packaging program, at Oriole Park for a special fundraiser and meal-packaging event on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Orioles INF/OF Trey Mancini will make an appearance to help with the meal-packaging. After a successful fundraiser in 2016 which more than doubled the organization's initial goal of 10,000 meals, the Orioles and CRS Helping Hands will continue their partnership in the fight against hunger by increasing this year's goal to 25,000 meals in conjunction with the 25th anniversary season of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The 25,000 Meal Challenge will help to send 25,000 meals to the hungry women, men, and children of Burkina Faso, West Africa. Through the program, for every 50 cents raised, CRS Helping Hands will provide one meal to under-fed global neighbors and fund projects that help families support themselves. 
The Orioles are committed to fighting hunger locally, nationally, and international on a year-round basis. Each year, the Orioles host the annual OriolesREACH Food & Funds Drive at Oriole Park, in addition to hosting food collections in their southern home of Sarasota, Fla. By partnering with CRS Helping Hands, the Orioles hope to provide hunger-relief and bring awareness to the issue of hunger on an international level. BANK OF AMERICA VOLUNTEER PARTNERSHIP CEREMONY

In 2017, Bank of America employees have volunteered over 12,000 hours in the Greater Maryland community, and prior to Saturday's game, some of these volunteers will be recognized for their efforts. This year, Bank of America teamed up with OriolesREACH to volunteer with members of the Orioles on Deck Employee Volunteer Program. Bank of America volunteers and Orioles staff helped with various events in the community, including playing catch with local youth as part of the Orioles' Have A Catch initiative, and making gift bags for families staying in the Baltimore Ronald McDonald House. 
SILENT AUCTION TO BENEFIT BARCS

As part of an ongoing partnership, on Saturday, the Orioles will be hosting a silent auction featuring a variety of Orioles autographed memorabilia to benefit the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), a nonprofit shelter that accepts and cares for all animals in need. The ninth annual Orioles 16-month pet calendar, presented by Pet+E.R. is now on sale, and includes photos of Orioles players with their pets and various BARCS animals. This year's calendar features Brad Brach, Dylan Bundy, Chris Davis, Caleb Joseph, Kevin Gausman, Mychal Givens, J.J. Hardy, Manny Machado, Trey Mancini, Wade Miley, Darren O'Day, Joey Rickard, Chris Tillman, Mark Trumbo, as well as manager Buck Showalter. The 2018 calendar is available for $15 at Oriole Park, the Orioles Team Store in the York Galleria in York, Pa., and at www.orioles.com/petcalendar. Over the past eight years the Orioles have helped to raise more than $256,000 for BARCS, including nearly $77,000 through Orioles pet calendar sales in 2016-17. The largest companion animal shelter in Maryland, BARCS takes in more than 11,000 dogs and cats and 1,000 wildlife and other small mammals annually. On any given day, BARCS cares for 250 or more dogs and cats in the shelter, and an additional 2,000 animals in foster care annually.

MILITARY APPRECIATION PROGRAM 

As part of the Orioles' Military Appreciation Program, the Orioles and OriolesREACH donate a catered, private suite at each Sunday home game to servicemen and women. This Sunday, military members from 29th Infantry Division will enjoy the game in a suite, experience a meet-and-greet with ZACH BRITTON and CHRIS TILLMAN, and receive a T-Shirt and cap.
STEAL SECOND BASE PRESENTED BY ESSKAY 

The Orioles will again feature the Steal Second Base contest during every Sunday home game this season. Presented by ESSKAY, the Steal Second Base contest challenges a young fan to race from the grounds crew area in center field to retrieve second base and back. Fans can enter the contest at any Fan Assistance Center. The lucky winner will receive four tickets to that day's game, an Orioles/ESSKAY jersey T-shirt and an Orioles cap. The contestants will also get to keep the authentic base that they steal. The participant for Sunday is Zoey Cassell, a 9-year-old from Elkridge, Md.
KIDS RUN THE BASES PRESENTED BY WEIS MARKETS

Sundays are family days at the ballpark, when all fans ages 4-14 will be able to participate in a postgame Kids Run the Bases, presented by Weis Markets. This is the 12th of 13 Sunday home games when kids can round the bases like their favorite Orioles.

BECKHAM T-SHIRT GIVEAWAY

The Orioles will recognize Tim Beckham when all fans in attendance receive a Tim Beckham T-Shirt prior to the 2:05 p.m. game against the Yankees on Monday. Beckham was traded to the Orioles on July 31, and through a Twitter poll, Orioles fans voted Beckham to be featured on the Orioles final T-Shirt giveaway.

FORT MEADE ALLIANCE CHECK PRESENTATION

Earlier this season, on Memorial Day, all Orioles uniformed personnel wore ripstop woodland camouflage-designed jerseys and caps. These jerseys and caps were autographed, authenticated, and auctioned to benefit the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation. 
On Tuesday, September 5, the Orioles will present a check with the proceeds raised from the auction to Deon Viergutz, FMA Foundation President, Jay Baldwin, FMA Foundation Vice President, Lisa Decker, FMA Executive Committee, and Tim O'Ferrall, FMA General Manager, from the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation. 
The Fort Meade Alliance Foundation is a nonprofit organization that manages charitable initiatives designed to support the Fort Meade installation, military personnel and their families, civilians, and the broader Fort Meade Community. The Foundation is now raising the necessary funding for Kuhn Hall on Fort Meade for the service members, their families, and DoD Civilians who support the critical missions on post. The Fort Meade Alliance Foundation relies heavily on the generosity of the Fort Meade community. ORIOLES TO PRESENT 2017 ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD WINNER

The Orioles and Major League Baseball will present the Orioles 2017 nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award, the most prominent individual player award bestowed by MLB, in a special pregame ceremony on Wednesday, September 6.
The Roberto Clemente Award is the annual recognition of a player from each MLB club who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. 
Roberto Clemente Day was established by Major League Baseball to honor Clemente's legacy and to officially acknowledge local club nominees of the Roberto Clemente Award. The Orioles will celebrate Roberto Clemente Day on Wednesday when they present the honor. 
BALTIMORE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANTHEM AND FIRST PITCH

On Wednesday, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform the national anthem prior to the game. Additionally, the orchestra's Music Director, Marin Alsop will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Alsop has been the music director since 2007, and during her tenure there, she has received numerous accolades including the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, she is an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal Philharmonic Society, and was recently appointed Director of Graduate Conducting at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute. As part of her artistic leadership in Baltimore, Alsop has created several bold initiatives including "OrchKids," for the city's most deprived young people, and the BSO Academy of Rusty Musicians for adult amateur musicians.
