CHICAGO -- On Thursday, August 31, Cubs Charities presented the American Red Cross with a $100,000 donation to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The American Red Cross is working to provide safe shelter and comfort for the many people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, the most dangerous hurricane to strike the United States in more than a decade.
Proceeds from last night's 50/50 raffle, plus a match from Cubs Charities and a generous player matching contribution, will be donated to the American Red Cross, which will help them to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.
"Cubs Charities is proud to support the American Red Cross in their efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We have seen tremendous support from our fans, players and front office associates who helped make this donation possible. We hope these funds will help people reunite with their families and recover from this devastating natural disaster," said Mike Lufrano, Cubs executive vice president of community affairs.
