The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated left-handed pitcher Alex Wood from the 10-day disabled list and he will make his 21st start of the season today against the Padres.
 
Wood, who missed 12 games due to a SC joint inflammation, last pitched on August 21 at Pittsburgh where he allowed three runs on five hits in 6.0 innings and struck out five in a no-decision. The All-Star left-hander is having a career year, recording a career-high 14 wins (14-1) with a 2.41 ERA (33 ER/123.1 IP) and limiting hitters to a .207 average in 22 games (21 starts). He has also struck out 127 batters against 30 walks, while posting a 1.01 WHIP.
 
In 20 starts this season, Wood has gone 13-1 with a 2.52 ERA (33 ER/118.0 IP) and has struck out 123 batters against only 29 walks, while holding batters to a .216 average. Among starters with 100.0 or more innings pitched this season, he currently ranks among the best in the Majors in ERA (3rd), opponents' on-base percentage (.271, 5th), WHIP (1.04, 5th), opponents' OPS (.603, 6th), home runs allowed per nine innings (0.76, 7th), opponents' batting average (10th), wins (T-12th) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.24, 12th).
