The Baltimore Orioles and OriolesREACH are once again joining manager BUCK SHOWALTER, his wife, ANGELA, and KidsPeace to host a Halloween-themed race to benefit children in foster care. The eighth annual Trick-or-Trot 5K/1-Mile Walk will start and end at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Saturday, October 28.
Halloween costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers, the first masters' finishers, and age group winners. There will also be prizes for the best child costume, best adult costume, best family costume, best group costume, and most creative child and adult Orioles costumes. Race participants will enjoy a pre- and post-race party with face painting, an inflatable skeeball game, food, and more Halloween fun with Buck and Angela Showalter, as well as the Oriole Bird.
Interested runners and walkers can register at www.orioles.com/kidspeace. The online registration fee is $40 through October 24. Participants who miss the October 24 online deadline can register in person for $45 at either of the two packet pick-up events or on race day. The packet pick-up events will take place on October 26 from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the KidsPeace office (7125 Thomas Edison Dr., Suite 225, Columbia, MD 21046), and on October 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dempsey's Brew Pub & Restaurant at Camden Yards. On race day, registration and packet pick-up begins at 6:30 a.m. at Gate A. The 5K race begins at 8:00 a.m., and the 1 Mile walk begins at 8:05 a.m. The first 1,000 registered runners/walkers will receive a race t-shirt (sizes are first come, first serve).
"Each and every year, Angela and I are amazed by the overwhelming support for this event as everyone comes together to provide a brighter future for foster youth," said Buck Showalter. "The work that KidsPeace is able to do to benefit foster children locally is so meaningful to both of us. We are grateful that our Birdland community has embraced this important cause."
