Milwaukee Brewers General Manager David Stearns issued the following statement today regarding Brewers Minor League player Julio Mendez, who suffered a cardiac event after being hit by a pitch in a game on August 26 in Tempe, Arizona.
 
"At the request of his family, Julio has been transferred to a hospital in his home country of Venezuela, where he remains in critical but stable condition. We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to Julio and his family in this very difficult time."
 
The family is at Julio's side and asks for privacy.
