DENVER - Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado and second baseman DJ LeMahieu have been named winners of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for their respective positions.
This is Arenado's fifth consecutive Gold Glove Award, and the second for LeMahieu in his career after having also won in 2014. It is the eighth consecutive season in which at least one Rockies player has won a Gold Glove, the fifth year in which there have been two winners on the Rockies, the second campaign in which Arenado and LeMahieu both won (also 2014).
Arenado is the first player in Rockies franchise history to win five consecutive Gold Gloves, extending his own record set last season when he surpassed Larry Walker's previous record of three straight (1997-1999). The five Gold Gloves for Arenado tie Walker's franchise record.
In 2014, LeMahieu became the first second baseman in Rockies history to win a Gold Glove. He is the sixth player in franchise history (also: Nolan Arenado, Carlos González, Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki, Larry Walker) to win multiple Gold Glove Awards as a member of the Rockies.
Following today's announcement, voting for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award will begin online at www.rawlings.com. The voting will open at 9:00 p.m. MST and will remain open for 48 hours. Fans will be able to select one player among the 2017 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners from each league.
