Rockies claim OF Jamie Hoffmann off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers
Hoffmann added to 40-man roster
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has claimed outfielder Jamie Hoffmann off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hoffmann is now a member of the Rockies 40-man roster.
Hoffmann, 27, spent the majority of the 2011 season with Triple-A Albuquerque where he primarily played center field. In 133 games for the Isotopes he hit .297 (141-for-475) with 23 doubles, 22 home runs, 84 RBI and 14 stolen bases. The New Ulm, Minn. native has a career Minor League batting average of .291 (1003-for-3448) with 167 doubles, 39 triples, 70 home runs and 473 RBI in 928 games. The right-hander has also seen time in the Majors with the Dodgers’ big league club, hitting .154 (4-for-26) with 2 doubles, a home run and 7 RBI in 16 games between 2009 and 2011.
Hoffmann was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Dodgers on September 2, 2003 out of New Ulm (Minn.) High School. He was selected by Washington in the 2009 Rule 5 Draft and traded to the New York Yankees before being returned to the Dodgers during 2010 Spring Training.
The Rockies now have 38 active players on their 40-man roster.
