Orioles acquire LHP Dana Eveland from L.A. Dodgers in exchange for Minor Leaguers LHP Jarret Martin and OF Tyler Henson

The Orioles today announced that they have acquired LHP Dana Eveland from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor leaguers LHP Jarret Martin and OF Tyler Henson. To make room for Eveland on the 40-man roster, RHP Willie Eyre has been designated for assignment.

Eveland, 28, is 19-24 with a 5.52 ERA (360.1IP, 221ER) in seven big league seasons with Milwaukee, Arizona, Oakland, Toronto, Pittsburgh and the Dodgers after being selected by the Brewers in the 16th round of the 2002 First Year Player Draft. He was 3-2 with a 3.03 ERA (29.IP, 10ER) in five starts for the Dodgers after making 25 starts for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2011.

"We think Dana is a qualified Major League pitcher who won 15 games last year between Albuquerque and Los Angeles," said Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Dan Duquette. "He provides depth and can compete for a starting spot on our roster in 2012."

Martin, 22, was selected by the Orioles in the 19th round of the 2008 First Year Player Draft. He went 5-12 with a 4.96 ERA (110.2IP, 61ER) in 31 games (18 starts) for Class-A Delmarva in 2011.

Henson, 23, was selected by the Orioles in the 5th round of the 2006 First Year Player Draft. He batted .247/.313/.321 in 123 games in his first season in Triple-A with Norfolk in 2011.

Eyre was 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA (18.1IP, 7ER) in 19 games for the Orioles in 2011.
