Right-handed pitcher Fabio Castillo not tendered contract offer
All other players on Rangers 40-man roster offered contracts
ARLINGTON -- The Texas Rangers announced this evening that the club will not tender a contract offer to right-handed pitcher Fabio Castillo before tonight’s 11:00 p.m. CT deadline. The team has tendered contract offers to all other players on the roster.
Castillo, 22, went 3-6 with 9 saves and a 6.36 ERA (37 ER/52.1 IP) in 42 relief appearances with Frisco (AA) last season. He was added to the 40-man roster in November 2010 as protection from the Rule 5 Draft. Castillo was originally signed by Texas as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2005.
With this transaction, the Rangers now have 36 players on the club’s 40-man roster.
